New Oceanflex Marine Cable for Small Craft Electrical Systems

14 August 2024

Ensure you are ISO 13297 compliant with our new Oceanflex Marine Battery Cable in yellow

If you are installing electrics in a small craft that contains both DC and AC electrical systems you should be aware of the international standard ISO 13297 - Small Craft Electrical Systems.

This standard states that black or yellow cable can be used to signify the negative side of the circuit in any DC electrical installation, however, installers MUST use yellow cable for the negative side of a DC system if an AC electrical system is also present in the same craft. This is a safety requirement to ensure that engineers and maintenance personnel are able to clearly distinguish between the AC and DC circuits.

To help you meet this safety standard (and perhaps comply with your insurers' requirements) we are now offering this highly corrosion-resistant marine cable in a variety of sizes: 16mm², 25mm², 35mm², 50mm², 70mm² and 95mm².

We are holding stock of these sizes 'by the metre' and on 10m reels, and we can obtain larger reels for you as special order items.

Please note: this is only a requirement in marine applications and does not affect automotive applications.
