About our Reviews
Directive (EU) 2019/2161, enforceable from 28th May 2022, means that traders must take reasonable and proportionate steps to check that online reviews are submitted only by consumers who purchased or used their goods or services. Traders publishing consumer reviews must also explain to potential consumers how they ensure the reviews come from genuine customers (i.e. by explaining the checks they have put in place). Post-Brexit, this is still applicable to UK businesses if they target EU consumers.
