Cable Protection & Management FAQs

Q How do I pick my size of heatshrink?
A

Your cable's overall diameter should be somewhere between the shrunk and un-shrunk diameters of the heat shrink sleeving you are using. Ideally, you should choose a sleeving size that allows it to be fitted over terminals that are already crimped to the cable. Click here for our handy heat shrink sleeving size chart.

Q Why would I use different coloured tape?
A Using different colours can help you to identify a cable. This can be very helpful when using a lot of cables to make sure no errors are made during installation.
Q I have a lot of cables - how do I find some protection that will fit all of them?
A If you want to feed several cables into some sleeving we would recommend finding one that has an internal diameter greater than the total outer diameter of your cable 'bundle'. Leave some extra room so that it's not too difficult to pull the cables through.
