The Votronic D+ Simulator Pro is used to simulate a D+ signal on vehicles such as motorhomes, campervans and special vehicles. When battery-to-battery chargers or consumer units are only supposed to be operated with the engine running, the D+ signal on the alternator is used to enable this. In newer vehicles (Euro 6), a voltage-controlled simulation of the D+ signal is often no longer possible due to the energy-optimised alternator controls. The VOTRONIC D+ Simulator Pro works independently of the alternator charging operation as it generates the signal by detecting the vibrations of the running engine, and is therefore suitable for all vehicle types and years of manufacture.
In order to prevent the device shutting down during engine start-stop activation (e.g. at traffic lights or in a queue of traffic) there is an adjustable switch-off delay that keeps it active for a user-specified time. In addition, there is built-in charging voltage monitoring and when this is switched on the device needs to see a voltage of 13.7V (27.4V for 24V systems) for 4 sec or more and detect vibration before activating. This prevents unwanted activation in the event of external vibrations, such as when traveling by ferry or the Eurotunnel Shuttle.
For older vehicles without smart alternators where a D+ signal may be available but is not easily accessible, the D+ Simulator Pro saves time and hassle during installation.
