The Victron Smart Battery Sense provides accurate battery temperature and voltage data to your Victron MPPT charge controller. As it is mounted directly on the battery and transmits the data by Bluetooth, it eliminates any errors that might result from voltage drop over long cable runs.
The temperature data allows your MPPT controller to adjust the output voltage and so provide optimised charging conditions for your particular battery's requirements. If the battery is too cold it may require an increased charge voltage and vice versa. Your Victron MPPT controller can also use this data to prevent damage to lithium batteries by disabling charging should the battery's temperature become too low.
Using Bluetooth technology, the Smart Battery Sense can be connected to one or more Victron MPPT solar controllers that also have Bluetooth onboard (e.g the SmartSolar range) in a VE.Smart Network. The data can then be viewed using the Victron Connect app.
Small and easy to install, the Smart Battery Sense can be attached directly to the battery using the self-adhesive strip on the back of the unit. It is powered by a connection to the battery on which it is mounted and has a very low power consumption.
